I finished block three of
The Splendid Sampler™. It came out beautifully, and at the right size from the first time! I made one large and four small hearts, for my husband and I, and our four kids. They were born in four different seasons, and I chose fabric to reflect this. Pieter was born in spring and got the light green fabric, Marieke got blue with red birds for winter, Lucas got plum for fall and Felix got bright yellow for summer.

I'm starting to wonder about my fabrics, though. I have 3 pretty blocks, but I'm not sure if they'll work together. I have a fabric selection of sunny yellows, lime and bright green, hot pink, soft blue and finally the plum for something darker. I'm wondering if the bright green background of my first block won't be too much? Maybe I should use white as background consistently and limit the colors to two or three per block?
It looks gorgeous!!! I love your colors, and I think with how many blocks there will be, you should be fine with lots of colors ;) Your block is just perfect, so many wonderful pretty points. Great job!!

Coming from the designer that means a lot to me!In all honesty the bottom points of the large and the yellow heart don't quite match up, but after my struggle with the second block, I'm just glad I got it this accurate in one go! I've decided to keep going with my palette, and to keep making very bright and saturated block, and more toned down blocks, with a white background. i should end up with 50 of each, then I can alternate them in the final setting.
