Peter Fox finished!

I finished this little fox just in time. Yesterday we went to fetch his new master, my eldest son Pieter, from his Boy Scouts camp in Macon, in the far South of Belgium, almost in France. He seems to have had a good time, though I'm sure we'll hear more as time goes by.

Hallo, ik ben Peter DeVos!

I had a lot of fun making this little guy, even though there is a lot of seaming to do.

A detail of the leg attached to the body, so it looks as if it's knitted in one piece.

In mijn zwembroek/onderbroek

Mooie capucijnen-hoedjes, doen me altijd denken aan William Morris.

My first Cotton Rabbit Fox

I am making a fox from the pattern I bought from Little Cotton Rabbits. i love working with the pattern. I already knitted a sweater. I kept me up way past bedtime, because I wanted to finish it. Not that it's that much work. You knit it up in one piece, add the star in duplicate stitch and then seam it and add the button for the closure. It makes for a very pretty sweater, with an elegant closure, easy for kids to dress their toy fox. This first fox will be for my eldest son, Pieter, who is now 8. He wanted his fox to have underpants, which can also serve as swimming trunks, so I adapted the pattern a little, and used this elegant stitch to join the legs to the body, so it looks as if they are knit in one piece.

You just sew through a point of a stitch on the body...

...and the through the point of a stitch on the leg.

More pictures will follow when I finish this fox. My other children Marie and Lucas are already pouring over the patterns to order their own fox, picking colors and patterns for the clothes. Only Felix, at just 1, is still too young to place an order, but that doesn't mean I won't be making him a fox, too.

Another Rabbit

I made another rabbit, using this free pattern. I rather like her, though, as with the first one I made, I'm not sure about the facial features.

Wearing her beach dress, with cheery stripes and a cherry heart.

I also made her two dresses, a sweater and a flower to put in her hair, err, on her ear.

This is her spring dress, because the bright green reminds me of spring leaves.

The dresses are both based on the pattern for the eyelet dress. The green dress follows the pattern, but using two colors of yarn, instead of one.

It can still be chilly in springtime, so I made a sweater to go with this outfit.
For the striped dress, I simply left out the eyelets and added a heart (sewn on using duplicate stitch).

All the bits and pieces.
I just bought myself a collection of patterns from 'Little Cotton Rabbits'. I downloaded the files and looked through them. They are very well laid out, full of pictures, and they are making my fingers itch to get started! I plan on buying some more yarn tomorrow, so I can take my knitting bag and these patterns with me on holiday... so looking forward to that!
